It’s amazing to think how many people try manifestation or using the Law of Attraction without appreciating the power of the subconscious mind, from where everything that connects us with the universe originates.
You see, over 90% – perhaps more – of your thinking and mental activity comes from the subconscious mind, so if you’re not using it to its full extent, particularly around manifestation, you’re living within very narrow limits.
Obviously the subconscious is the part of our mind that runs all the automatic features of our body, the maintenance, the repair, the unconscious systems for digestion, renewal of tissue, blood circulation, respiration and so on.
But in addition, your subconscious mind has a way of communicating with you: it does this by means of intuition, impulses, hunches, urges, creative ideas, aspirations, inspirations, and visions for a greater life than the one you’re living – they all come from the subconscious.
There’s no doubt that many great musicians, artists and writers use some flow of energy that comes from the subconscious – Mozart and Handel are reputed to have written down complete symphonies at preternaturally young ages.
Did they manifest these creations from their own subconscious creativity, or were they establishing in some way a connection with the universe around them, from where the music manifested?
In my view, probably the latter. You see, experts in the field of manifestation are pretty clear that the subconscious mind is where we establish a link with the universe around us.
For those of us who want to excel at manifestation, and for those of us who wish to use the Law of Attraction to its fullest extent, understanding and appreciating the workings of the subconscious mind is essential.
Start from a proposition: that left alone, the subconscious mind would work for your good, and the good of the world around you. Yet the conscious mind, regrettably, interferes with the workings of the subconscious, and in a way “corrupts” it, so that its function becomes defensive and protective rather than expansive and creative.
How does this happen? As a child, you’re going to learn that certain things are not acceptable to the people around you, and you going to suppress the feelings, thoughts, impulses and behaviour associated with those things into your subconscious mind.
Indeed, if the punishment for displaying certain behaviors is severe enough, then the subconscious develops protective mechanisms to ever stop you doing things, or ever believing that those things can be possible or true for you.
So suppose you are trying to create abundant wealth: if this is the case, and yet you have a history of poverty, or have been taught that expectation of great wealth is wrong, or that great wealth is immoral, then your subconscious is going to have created a whole raft of behavior patterns which will stop you acting in a way that will create abundant wealth.
Therefore, as a creator of reality, you must know the truth about what goes on in your subconscious, if you wish to manifest reality.
Indeed, to use the Law of Attraction, which depends on your subconscious mind sending a message about your desires to the universe around you, you must ensure that the subconscious mind is not interfering with your wishes in the present day by re-enacting old beliefs and messages from the past.
And bear in mind that this is no insignificant obstacle: you are the complete summation of all your thoughts and feelings, of all the impulses and intuitions that your subconscious offers as well as the creativity of your conscious and subconscious minds.
Those limiting beliefs, the ones the subconscious generated to protect you in the past, are as much a part of you as your goals and desires and wishes. Unfortunately they have much more power.
This means you have to deal with them before you can expect success in manifestation.
Years ago, Joseph Murphy, in his classic book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, wrote about affirmations: he suggested that affirmations such as this – “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, and happy” – said over and over many times a day could affect the attitude of mind, the beliefs, and the way of habitual thinking of any individual.
And it is true: by changing your attitude of mind, your beliefs (by which he undoubtedly meant your subconscious beliefs), and your way of habitual thinking, you can change your level of success in manifestation.
Yet today we would probably see this kind of blind faith in affirmations as naive, and certainly it’s not the easiest way to ensure success whilst manifesting reality.
These days you can program your subconscious mind easily by using self hypnosis or hypnosis recordings downloaded from the Internet.
Hundreds of recordings are available in many different subjects, and no matter what is getting in the way of you and your successful manifestation right now, you’re going to be able to find something suitable for reprogramming your subconscious in a more productive and beneficial direction.
You see, the right answer for you, no matter what you’re trying to manifest, is inevitable when your thoughts are positive, constructive, loving, grateful and harmonious – and perfectly aligned with the objective that you’re trying to create.
Which means that all you have to do to overcome failure is to get your subconscious mind to accept an idea, or suggestion, or request as a potential reality for you.
And yet you will always fail to get any positive results by trying to use a process of mental coercion – you see, your subconscious mind does not respond to coercion, it responds to faith and belief, which can come from the conscious mind, but can also be put directly into the subconscious by means of techniques like hypnosis.
What Murphy wrote about was exactly right: that your failure to get results can arise from negative attitudes in the conscious mind. These need to be expunged, and replaced with positivity, self belief and confidence.
And those who work miracles of manifestation will tell you that gratitude and joy go a long way to helping the process, too!
But essentially you need to start from your conscious mind by making a definite decision that you want to change something, knowing that there is a solution to the problem you face in the moment.
Only then, knowing that your absolute and utter faith in the idea of a solution will influence the subconscious mind, can you can turn the problem over to your subconscious, which undoubtedly knows the answer (or can find it), and you can relax and let go.
“Letting Go” or “Holding On”
This issue of “letting go” during manifestation has been problematic for many people over many years. What people seem to mean by this is that you ask for a certain thing or situation to manifest in your life, then you turn over your desire with absolute faith and certainty to the universal energy, and forget about it.
But the problem for many people is that they don’t have absolute faith and certainty – and therefore once they’ve “let it go”, their minds constantly turn to the possibility that what they want won’t manifest.
In other words, if you don’t completely believe in the likelihood of what you’re trying to manifest appearing in your world, then you need to reinforce your expectations on a daily basis by using visualization twice a day. Indeed, using an additional technique like self hypnosis can only be beneficial when your doubts are strong.
This is the fuel that will allow the subconscious mind to believe strongly in what you’re trying to achieve, and thereby bring it about.
Don’t believe the people who talk about the need to “let go” if you have doubts. Because, if you have doubts, you need to reinforce your goals by visualizing your objectives regularly, and you most likely need to use affirmations as well to backup your belief system.
Complete belief is the key to manifestation, no matter how you generate it.
